Concept Note
ChitiSamvad (Collective Consciousness Dialogue): The basic objective of the two days national seminar organized on the topic ChitiVimarsh in Literature and Arts is the expression of Chiti (collective consciousness) in literature, art and folk-tribal traditions, conservation of cultural heritage, transfer of knowledge and process of socialization and the changes in mentality over time and their social effects are analyzed to understand their role in the development of the society.
‘Chiti’ means consciousness. Well-known scholar Dr. KrishnaduttPaliwal considers 'Chiti' to be synonymous with the English word Psyche or Manas. In simple language, Chiti can be understood as the collective consciousness of the nation.‘Chiti’ is a state of a different level from physical or gross consciousness. Its development takes place over millennia. The 'mind' of a society or human community develops only after transmission through the process of life experience, countless research and adaptation. What is that important substance and how can it be obtained? Continuous efforts must have been made for this. Those efforts established human consciousness in a higher state, this form of consciousness is known as 'Chiti'.
