Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU)
Swami Vivekanand Subharti University is a University under section 2(f) of the University Grant Commission Act, 1956, set up under the Swami Vivekanand Subharti Vishwavidyalaya. Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam, 2008U.P. Act. No. 29 of 2008 as passed by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature and assented to by the Honorable Governor of Uttar Pradesh in September 2008. The University has been established under the aegis of Mahayana Thervada Vajrayana Buddhist Religious and Charitable trust (formerly known as Subharti K.K.B. Charitable Trust) Meerut, which has acquired a commendable record of service in the field of education, Religion, health care and social welfare.
The main campus of the University is strategically situated on National Highway- 58, Delhi - Haridwar Bypass Road, Meerut. The campus aptly called Subhartipuram, is spread over a sprawling area of about 250 acres of land compromising of magnificent buildings, lush green lawns and vibrant surroundings with over 5000 people, determined to make this ‘Jewel in the crown’ of the Nation.
The University boasts of highly qualified, dedicated and competent faculty from all walks of life, world class infrastructure, fully equipped laboratories with latest state – of – the - art equipments and a huge library with the most updated physical and e- resources.
The Uniqueness of Subharti University lies in providing an environment conducive to the overall development of students, thus maintaining a balance between academic excellence and moral perfection.
The University has been awarded the membership of Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
The University has more than 58 MOUS and has won numerous National and International Awards.
The University has also started a number of courses through Distance Education, approved by Distance education Bureau(DEB) of UGC.
The Library & Information Science Department was established in 2008 with Bachelor degree course in Library and Information Science. With the rising demand of Postgraduate courses M. Lib. I. Sc. & M. Phil. were introduced in 2009. Another pioneering step in the progress of the Department was the introduction of research programme leading to Ph.D. degree in 2010. The students of the department have been employed in various libraries. A special feature of the Department is adoption of updated curricula with an emphasis on information technology and training of library automation software packages.
Society for Information Research and Studies (SIRs)
SIRs (www.sirsindia.org) is a registered knowledge based society, was formed in 2012 with a group of professionals with varied expertise in the areas of information technology, management and knowledge management. SIRs is committed to core competency and capacity development of research, management and knowledge professionals and students across India in different areas using digital tools and technologies. In recent past, SIRs has collaborated with many interdisciplinary organizations and organized a few successful national level conferences and training programmes.
SIRs plays a strong role in shaping the future, and continues this work vigorously toward digital transformation in organizational processes. The team of experts in SIRs, who lead and produce the publications, training courses, as well as the editorial contents; current trends are monitored, and leadership is provided through the products and services on offer to esteemed members.
